Implantology

Dental implantology is a department dealing with tooth reconstruction. Losing even a single tooth is not indifferent to the entire bite, so each cavity should be replaced as soon as possible. If not it will be replenished, it will negatively affect the work of the entire jaw. The teeth will start moving out soon. This will result in a complete bite disturbance – because the dentition is a consistent
grpup.

The implant is permanent, long-lasting and safe element that replaces a tooth’s root. It is placed surgically in the bone of the so-called alveolar ridge. Then, on its basis, the prosthetic restoration is performed such as a crown or a bridge or complete bite reconstruction, if the patient is completely dentition absent. It is a guarantee of regaining a natural and beautiful smile. Implantology is a field in which our most experienced dentists specialize at: Michał Szczepaniak, for whom work is a real passion.

Dental implants

Implantology is a perfect solution for people who have lost one, more or even all teeth. Implants can be inserted in patients whose bone has stopped growing. In the case of women, it is is about 16–18 years of age and 18–20 for men. However, there is no upper age limit – if there was no disappearance or change in the structure of the bone tissue typical of the natural aging processes, implantation surgery can be performed.

Benefits

Dental implants allow for permanent restoration of the full functionality and aesthetics of teeth. They improve the quality of life, providing patients with the highest comfort and guaranteeing a beautiful smile. Therefore, implantology provides a sense of naturalness and physical comfort and restores confidence each other.

It enables:

  • reconstruction of one tooth without the need to file healthy teeth in its vicinity,
  • reconstruction of a few teeth without disturbing the others,
  • bite reconstruction in the case of toothlessness – in this case the specialist makes a complete denture cap.

Preparation for the procedure

Preparing for the procedure involves carrying out a thorough diagnostics, which they consist of such elements as:

  • detailed bone assessment at the site of the planned implant,
  • preliminary hygienic examination,
  • general research,
  • prosthetic plan.

Usually, we invite the patient for two visits: the first – general, during which the specialist makes an assessment of dentition’s condition and discusses a patient’s expectations and the entire treatment process. Next an individual costs of the implantation procedure are estimated. The next step is examination of performance in the office (evaluation of diagnostic models and membrane thickness, mucosa) and the so-called impressions. The patient may also be referred for general examinations (urine and blood), pantomographic and CT scan of the jaws. Finally, we present the patient with a detailed treatment plan (it may include treatments in the field of preimplantation surgery).

The course of the procedure

During the implant placement procedure, the dentist cuts and delaminates the mucosa, and then he drills a hole into which the implant is inserted with a special drill. At the end it is detached and the mucosa is sutured. The entire procedure is performed under local anesthesia – and thanks to the precision of the surgical technique and the excellent experience of our specialists it is compared to the level of tooth extraction.

We invite you to use the services of our Dentistry Center at the Medical Clinic Podhale in Nowy Targ. Thanks to the commitment of our specialists, in 2019 we gained the first place in a nationwide poll: Beauty Stars Gala – in the dental beauty salon category.

Further treatment

It takes about half a year for the implant to fully integrate with the skeleton. After this time it is necessary to perform the procedure of exposing the intraosseus, where the doctor places a healing screw (for a period of about 2 weeks) forming the gum and suturing. In the meantime, the patient should put himself on scheduled to follow-up visits, thanks to which it is possible to evaluate the effects of treatment.

After about 2–3 weeks, you can begin the prosthetic reconstruction of the tooth on the implant.
