Shockwave

Shock Wave Therapy

Shock Wave Therapy (SWT) is a modern and extremely effective method of treatment. Shockwaves speed up the healing process by stimulating the metabolism and agitation of blood circulation. They dissolve calcified fibroblasts (connective tissue cells), increase production of collagen and reduce muscle tension. Damaged tissue, thanks to treatments with SWT, gradually regenerates and supports the healing process in the treated area. Treatments with the use of the shock wave, take place at intervals of 3–5–7 days, depending on the findings of a physiotherapist.

Indications

The shock wave is used in such ailments as:

  • jumper’s knee, patellar tendon pain, runner’s knee,
  • tennis elbow, inflammation of the lateral epicondyle of the humerus,
  • heel spur, plantar tendon pain,
  • Achilles tendon pain,
  • shoulder pain,
  • calcifications in the muscles and soft tissues of the joints,
  • post-traumatic conditions – hematomas,
  • iliotibial band friction syndrome.
